A beautiful hardcover book written and illustrated by Jennifer Lindridge (who also wrote “The Fuzz-Fuzz” and “Eleven Dogs Live with Me”). The story is written poetically as a goodnight from every corner of South Africa. Each page is vibrantly and intricately by the author herself using a variety of stamps and layering. It is fun looking at each page trying to guess what was used for what. Is that bubble wrap for sheep fleece? Fern leaves for plants? Also look out for a friendly little cricket on most pages, each time we read the book we find him somewhere new. At the back of the book is a short introduction to some of the unique wildlife and nature of South Africa, with some really interesting facts. This book makes an ideal bedtime story for younger kids and for older kids who still enjoy being read to, else they could read it themselves.
